This week, the City Council of San Mateo, California, unanimously passed a bill banning the sale of all e-cigarettes, as well as all tobacco products sold in city wide pharmacies. It is understood that the state is preparing to issue a ban on January 1, 2021.
However, if the proposed ban obtains sufficient signatures, it may be challenged and delayed.
Before it becomes law, a second vote must be held in October. If adopted, it will take effect on January 1, 2021. The regulation was originally implemented on April 5, 2021, and was revised during the discussion to speed up the implementation of the law.
